Faith Christian, Dawson School join prep baseball title parade

Faith Christian beats Manitou Springs, Dawson school downs Sedgwick County

In Greeley, Faith Christian beat Manitou Springs 5-1 at Butch Butler Field on Sunday to capture the Class 3A state baseball championship.

The Eagles finished 20-6.

Senior Austin Stone led Faith Christian, earning his eighth victory on the mound, pitching a complete game, permitting only two hits and striking out 11 Mustangs.

It’s Faith Christian’s third baseball title. The Eagles also won in 2007 and 2011.

Manitou Springs finished 16-10.

In Pueblo, Dawson School won its first baseball title, winning two games at the Runyon Complex to claim the 2A crown.

The Mustangs downed Sedgwick County 6-1 semifinals, then pasted Limon 13-4 to win it.

The Mustangs ended 18-4.

Limon finished 19-5.
