Golden police investigating series of threatening emails sent to Islamic Center of Golden member

Center provides outreach and awareness to non-Muslims about Islam

The Golden Police Department is investigating a series of threatening emails sent to a male member of the Islamic Center of Golden that were reported Friday. The emails were sent by an individual known to him.

The member had invited the individual to the center to learn more about Islam, the Council on American-Islamic Relations said in a news release, .

“In my pockets I carry two extra magazines —  even so I would run out of bullets before you ran out of Muslims. This is why I carry two knives and a collapsible baton as well,” a portion of one of the emails said, according to the television station.

The worshippers have also been warned about the threats and have a photo of the person and his vehicle, according to Denver7.

Golden police officers have interviewed the individual. The investigation is ongoing, according to a news release from the department.

The center gives tours and works to bridge what it sees as a knowledge gap about the Islamic faith, and The center functions as a local mosque, or Islamic place of worship.

The department, in conjunction with the Joint Terrorism Task Force, is in contact with the center to keep them advised of the investigation. The center recently began , which it aims to complete this year.
