The Federal Railroad Administration is investigating a fatal accident Saturday that killed a conductor who fell from the Royal Gorge scenic railroad train and was run over.

Desiree French, FRA public affairs specialist, said no information about the investigation could be released Tuesday.

The railroad will resume service Wednesday. Service was suspended after the death of  about 5 p.m. Saturday as the train returned to the station after a trip through the Royal Gorge.

Operations will probably “start with our breakfast run at 9:30,” Dan Branson, the train’s general manager, said Tuesday.

The train was about 4 miles from the station, and Cacy was standing in a doorway at its rear when she fell off and was run over, according to Fremont County sheriff’s spokeswoman Sgt. Megan Richards.

On its Facebook page Sunday, Royal Gorge Route Railroad officials said: “We are absolutely devastated by the loss of our team member who died yesterday in an accident on the train. We have been working around the clock with authorities to figure out exactly what happened. Right now, our focus is on helping the Fremont County sheriff’s office do its job and taking care of our team.”
