SATURDAY: The annual Juneteenth festival, which commemorates the end of slavery, highlights more than just African-American history and culture — although it certainly does that with a parade (staging at Manual High School at East 26th Avenue and Gilpin Street at 8 a.m. and running at 10 a.m.) and dozens of diverse vendors. This year also offers an expanded Youth Zone — including a novel, incentive-based financial literacy booth that offers access to other games and fun — plus plenty of live music, the 28-year-old festival’s first-ever BBQ competition, a stand-up showcase at Crossroads Theatre and more in the area between 28th Street and Park Avenue West on Welton Street in Five Points.
