Bargain burger

Sonic Drive-In is celebrating the start of the summer by offering the family-favorite cheeseburger at half-price June 20. If you don’t like cheese, just order one without it and still salivate over the savings. With no limit, everyone in the family can chomp on a “cheap” cheeseburger at participating locations. Remember, the fast-food chain continues to offer half-price shakes after 8 p.m. Combine the two deals for big savings.

Taco Tuesday

Thanks to the Warriors stealing game four in the NBA Finals, America gets to munch on a free taco. On June 21, stop by Taco Bell to pick up a free Doritos Locos Taco from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at participating locations. No purchase necessary, while supplies last. Expect long lines.

Take a spin

Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate this new “spin” on a library. The City of Golden opens The Golden Bike Library (at the Golden Visitors Center, 1010 Washington Ave.) on June 22. The new bike-share program allows visitors and residents alike to “check out” a bike for local use. A variety of bicycles, 40 in total, are available for different ages and abilities. Users can check out bikes from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday through Sunday. Riders need to sign a waiver, and those under 18 must have a parent’s signature. A valid ID and credit card also are required. Rides under two hours are free. Daily rentals cost less than $10. Each bike comes equipped with a lock and helmet. Riders will receive a reusable water bottle with each rental.

By the book

Attention, bibliophiles! Just in time for summer reading, the Denver Public Library is hosting its Gigantic Used Book Sale from June 22 to 25. New this year, the sale moves indoors into the lower level of the Denver Central Library (10 W. 14th Ave. Parkway, Denver.) More than 80,000 items will be sold at bargain basement prices — hardbacks $3, trade paperbacks $2, DVDs $2 and audiobooks $3. New items are added daily. The sale runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Cash, checks and credit cards accepted.

Dog’s best friend

Who says all freebies are just for the two-legged? Good Times Burgers & Frozen Custard serves a freebie Fido will definitely like (and lick), during the “dog days” of summer. Through July 31, every dog can get a free PawBender at participating locations. The doggone good treat is a little pup-sized cup filled with vanilla custard, doggie biscuits and peanut butter. Pet owners must be present. Limit one treat per dog.
