
A suspect wanted on multiple felony warrants was shot and killed late Thursday afternoon by Westminster police.
The incident happened about 4:30 p.m. at West 86th Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard, according to the Westminster Police Department.
Police tried to arrest the male suspect who was near his car in a parking lot, according to a Westminster Police Department news release.
The man fought with officers and during the struggle was able to get in his car, start it and attempt to drive away. As the vehicle took off, it ran over an officer, dragging the officer.
The officer who was hit and dragged and other officers at the scene fired at the fleeing suspect, police said.
The suspect was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The injured officer was taken to a hospital. His injuries are not life-threatening.
The name of the injured officer and the man who was killed were not released.
