Colorado Springs police are investigating a shooting in which a woman was killed late Tuesday night.
The woman’s name has not been released pending notification of family members.
Police were called to a home on the 4600 block of Newton Drive at 10:54 p.m. on a report of a shooting, according a news release.
When they arrived at the home, they found the body of a dead woman inside, according to the release.
Colorado Springs authorities say they do not believe there is a lingering danger to the community, although they have not yet released information about any arrests.
Violent crimes detectives responded and are in the initial stages of the investigation and are interviewing witnesses.
