A judge on Thursday sentenced a 24-year-old man to 48 years in prison for attacking women in a series of 2014 break-ins in Aurora.

A jury in March convicted Clarence Eugene Howard of Denver of 13 charges, including burglary, robbery and assault. District Court Judge Frederick Martinez imposed the sentence.

The break-ins occurred during the early morning hours of Sept. 1, 2014. Police broke into three town homes in the Shores Condominium Complex near south Parker Road and East Lansing Way in Aurora. He assaulted women in the town homes and stole items from them.

In one of the break-ins, police said Howard crawled through a pet door, ripped the burglar alarm off  the wall and held a woman at knifepoint in her bedroom.
