BOULDER — Boulder’s city clerk last week invalidated nearly 6,000 signatures on the petition submitted in support of a ballot measure that would ask voters to limit City Council members to three terms.

But organizers for the measure say it will be easy to cure the errors that led to the clerk’s ruling.

Advocacy group Open Boulder turned in 6,912 petition signatures for the ballot measure Tuesday. Thursday, City Clerk Lynnette Beck ruled most of those signatures — 5,904 — invalid because of a formatting error.

Though Open Boulder obtained a notary’s signature on each of the 111 petition sections, the group failed to get the notary to write the city and county where the notarization took place.
