Loveland police arrested a Fort Collins man for attempted murder after finding a man with gunshot wounds Saturday.
Police arrested Thomas Collins, 33, after he fled the scene of the shooting at 1077 Caroline Court.
After his arrest, he was treated for an injury he claimed he suffered during a fight with the 39-year-old shooting victim, according to a news release. The victim hasn’t been identified.
The victim has gone through surgery and is recovering from his wounds.
Police responded to Caroline Court at 5:05 p.m. Saturday, after someone reported a shooting.
“The preliminary investigation shows that Collins came to victim’s Loveland home to confront the victim about a disagreement,” police said.
Angelique Smith, 23, drove Collins to Loveland, the news release said. She was arrested on an unrelated warrant.
Smith and Collins were in the vehicle, fleeing the scene, when police contacted them.
Collins is being held in the Larimer County Jail and faces charges of attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault and possession of a weapon by a previous offender.
Collins’ criminal record includes drug possession, receiving stolen property, assault, fraud and theft.
