GREELEY — On a cool morning in a drizzling rain, Elena Patricia Lenway sat among a sea of fellow immigrants with a smile on her face and tears of joy in her eyes.

The immigrants came from 15 countries — Brazil, Burma, Canada, People’s Republic of China, Columbia, Denmark, Eritrea, India, Iraq, Iran, Mexico, Nicaragua, Republic of Serbia, Somalia and Taiwan — to swear their allegiance to their new home and country while they were cheered by friends and family.
