brush-fireCunningham firefighters extinguished a fireworks-caused brush fire near a home Tuesday night, authorities say.

The brush fire erupted just before 9 p.m. in a field on the 1300 block of South Dayton Street, according to a news release from Chief Jerry Rhodes of the Cunningham Fire Protection District.

A resident heard fireworks going off, looked out the window and saw blaze in a nearby field.

The fire threatened a home and power lines, according to the news release.

There were no injuries or damage to buildings reported, the news release says.
