A tanker truck carrying diesel fuel went off Colorado 40 Thursday morning in Grand County and turned over, spilling fuel alongside the road and injuring the driver and a passenger.

Injuries caused by the accident at 7:54 a.m. near mile marker 152 on Rabbit Ears Pass were moderate, said Colorado State Patrol Trooper Nate Reid.

The truck went down an embankment beside the road, Reid said.

A State Patrol hazmat crew is cleaning up the spill.
