Authorities in Colorado Springs have identified the 23-year-old in a Taco Bell parking lot just south of the city’s center.

Jessie Garcia died of a gunshot wound and his manner of death has been ruled a homicide, police announced Wednesday.

Officers were called to the scene on the 1500 block of South Nevada Avenue at about 2:45 p.m. on Sunday where they found Garcia fatally wounded.

Lt. Darrin Abbink told The Denver Post over the weekend that the shooting might have been the result of road rage. No arrests in the case have been announced.

Abbink said Garcia and another person were in the parking lot of the Taco Bell, one inside of a vehicle and the other outside. Garcia was outside of the vehicle and was taken to Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Colorado Springs police say Garcia’s slaying marks the 14th homicide in the city so far this year.
