Re: Aug. 6 Cass R. Sunstein column.

President Obama would have us believe that anything other than allowing as many people into the U.S. as want to come here, not properly vetting them and not expecting them to assimilate to American values, culture and laws is not “who we are.” In doing so he blatantly ignores historical realities such as President Theodore Rooseveltap views and immigration policies, restricted immigration into the U.S. from approximately 1930-60, process and expectations for gaining U.S. citizenship legally, etc. Simultaneously he portrays all Republicans as being anti-immigration, and by inference, un-American, when in fact they are nothing more than against open-border “immivasion” and unwilling to concede the security and well-being of our county and its citizens accordingly.

Like so much of Obama’s rhetoric, his “who we are” sentiments are ultimately little more than a bunch of hooey.
