A 35-year-old man who was dressed as Santa Claus when he stabbed another RTD bus passenger on Christmas Eve has been sentenced to eight years in prison.

Brian Delorme, who had been charged with attempted murder and several other related offenses, had entered an agreement in which he pleaded guilty to second degree assault in exchange for having all the other charges dismissed, according to court records.

He was sentenced last week in Jefferson County District Court.

Delorme had been arrested on theft charges in Arizona, Mississippi, and Colorado dating back to 2001, according to court records. Between 2001 and 2010, he was arrested four times on theft charges.

The name of the victim, who survived his injuries, has not been released.
