Denver police are investigating a shooting Wednesday morning in the city’s Highland neighborhood.

Christine Downs, a police spokeswoman, said there are no reports of injuries and that officers are in the area trying to parse out what unfolded. She said the gunfire apparently came during an attempted robbery.

The shooting was reported in the area of 32nd Avenue and Clay Street. Photos from the scene about 10 a.m. showed a large police presence.

Denver Public Schools placed four of their nearby schools on lockout as police responded, including North High School, the Academy of Urban Learning, the Career Education Center and Valdez Elementary School.
