Delshon Giles is also suspected of first-degree arson and second-degree arson in the case.

Authorities allege that Giles killed 39-year-old Walter Bracken after an altercation on July 23 and then left his burning body on the side of the road near the intersection of Elgin Place and Andrews Drive early the next morning.

“The charges also allege that a few days later he set fire to a home in the 5100 block of Victor Way where the murder is believed to have occurred,” the Denver District Attorney’s Office said in a Friday news release.

Denver’s coroner found Bracken died from “blunt-force injuries and sharp-force injuries.”

Giles was identified as a suspect by Denver police detectives within a few days of the murder, investigators say, but he fled the state. He was recently found in Los Angeles, where he was taken into custody.

Giles will remain in custody until he is returned to Denver. Prosecutors said Friday it wasn’t yet known when he would appear before a judge in Colorado.
