The last-minute purchase of digital and TV ads by the raises the stakes in a fight that has become one of the most expensive in Colorado — and nationally.

Outside groups have dropped more than $2.6 million so far in Colorado’s 6th Congressional District, putting the Aurora-area race in the for non-candidate spending in House races as of Oct. 3, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, a non-partisan election watchdog.

Coffman already has received support from Americans for Prosperity and the National Republican Congressional Committee. Carroll is being supported by the House Majority PAC and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

The latest buy from the Congressional Leadership Fund also recalls Coffman’s 2014 fight against Democrat Andrew Romanoff, which turned into House races in the country and one that attracted a similar amount of outside cash.
