An Aurora man has been found guilty of attempted first-degree murder after shooting his girlfriend in the face.
Derek Robinson, 45, was convicted Friday by an Arapahoe County jury, according to an Arapahoe County district attorney’s news release.
He also was convicted of first-degree assault with a deadly weapon causing serious injury for the Jan. 5, 2015, in the 500 block of Galena Street.
A neighbor called 911 about the incident and when police arrived they found the 43-year-old victim covered in blood in the backyard of the home they shared.
The victim told officers “Derek” had shot her, according to the release.
Robinson is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 20 and faces up to 80 years prison, the DA’s office said.
