Authorities in El Paso County are searching for a man they say set a car on fire Sunday night, burning the two females inside it.

The county sheriff’s office says they are investigating the case as a domestic violence situation.

Consepcion Rascon Jr., 36, is wanted in connection to the fire about 5 p.m. Sunday on the 1300 block of Forest Road in the Stratmoor Hills area.

Investigators have declined to say how old the two female victims are, but Rascon is being sought on charges of child abuse, domestic violence, attempted first-degree murder and two counts of second-degree arson.

Natalie Sosa, spokeswoman for the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, said she could not comment on Rascon’s relationship with the females, both of whom were taken to a hospital for treatment.

The sheriff’s office says through its investigation it learned the situation started as an argument between Rascon and a female.

“The female was sitting in a vehicle with another female passenger,” the sheriff’s office said in a Monday news release. “(Rascon allegedly) threw an accelerant on the vehicle, ignited a fire and left the scene.”

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center at 719-390-5555.
