A teenager was shot in a Jefferson County home Friday afternoon, and another teen, the victim’s friend, is in custody.
The shooting happened at about 3 p.m. in the 11300 block of West Bowles Place, said Mark Techmeyer, a Jefferson County sheriff’s spokesman.
Deputies found a 14-year-old boy inside a home suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and is in critical condition, Techmeyer said.
A 15-year-old ran from the scene. Deputies found the teen who fled on foot about 2 miles away. He was taken into custody.
“Whether this was intentional or a tragic accident has yet to be determined,” Techmeyer said.
The boys’ names were not released. A weapon had not been recovered Friday night.
