Lafayette Mayor Christine Berg looks at the cardboard cutout of U.S. Sen. Cory Gardner set up in the gymnasium of Byers Middle School while speaking about civic engagement during an "in absentia" town hall meeting directed at the senator, who was invited to attend but did not respond to the invitation. Organizers said the meeting was held as a response to Gardner's refusal to meet face-to-face with constituents in a similar meeting format.

Re: “,” Feb. 27 editorial.

Your defense of Sen. Cory Gardner is indefensible. Need I remind the The Denver Post that our democracy is based upon the premise of representation of the people?Duringlast Friday’s town hall, Gardnerwas elsewhere and obviously pandering to CEOs and business entities rather than where he belongs, facing his constituents who want answers that directly affect their personal lives.

Rather than standing up for the people of Colorado, Gardnerhas pandered to the Republican Washington elite. We will see what happens in 2018 and 2020. I, for one, can’t wait.

I am very much offended by your editorial statement that the Cory Gardner town hall was a “political show” and “political posturing.” I did not travel down to Denver for political show, but rather for my voice to be heard. It’s disappointing, once again, to see my voice trivialized in such a way.
