Re: March 24 Kevin B. Blackistone column.
I have been a diehard Broncos fan since the day my grandpa bought me my first championship shirt in 1997, when I was 5 years old. Though Colin Kaepernick was never a Broncos quarterback, I am a big fan of his and it pains me to see such a brave American citizen get blackballed by the league because of his protest against injustice.
Kevin B. Blackistone calls Kaepernick’s kneeling during the national anthem last year “a spit in the NFL’s eye” and says he is being ignored by all 32 teams in the NFL because of his “militant” label. Kaepernick simply used his platform to express his freedom to stand against brutal killings of black citizens by the police. It is such a shame to witness a man being demonized and pushed out of his career simply because he took a public stance against oppression.
