A celebrity hockey fundraiser has been planned Saturday for Castle Rock seventh-grader Rylie Guentensberger, who was critically injured when a on April 29.
Rylie remains heavily sedated but stable at Children’s Hospital in Aurora.
Avalanche defenseman Francois Beauchemin, former Avalanche players Pierre Turgeon and Brett Clark, and University of Denver coach Jim Montgomery in Littleton. There will be an open skate on both rinks as well as a skills competition with the pros. Please use the above link for more information.
Rylie is the daughter of Ziggy Guentensberger, the former general manager of The Ice Ranch in Littleton who coaches with Beauchemin at the Littleton Hockey Association. The father also plays hockey with Turgeon, Clark and other former Avs, among others, at South Suburban. Ziggy is a dear friend to yours truly and everyone else he befriends.
Thanks to Dawg Nation, the charitable Front Range hockey foundation, Montgomery, among others, will sit at the Dawg Nation table Saturday (probably a good idea to not ask him about his NHL coaching opportunities).
Please consider attending the fundraiser or offer your support in other ways. Thank you.
