Boulder County Democratic Party chairman Mark Williams is taking a leave of absence from his post while considering whether to become a candidate for the 2nd Congressional District seat up for election next year.

Williams said the leave from the county party position will give him time “to do my due diligence” in deciding whether to make a bid to succeed incumbent U.S. Rep. Jared Polis, a Boulder Democrat rather than seeking re-election to Congress.
Boulder resident Williams is chief executive officer of VUmind and Dynamic Human Solutions, an organizational development consulting business. He said the leave is to last through Aug. 31, by which time he expects to have decided whether to resume his county chairman’s role or resign that post in order to run for Congress.
