“All this over a peanut”: Loveland man ticketed for feeding squirrel gets charge dismissed

A ticket that caused furor over an and led to a ended with one simple word Thursday: Dismissed.

Gaylord Sigman, the Loveland resident, appeared before Loveland Municipal Court Judge Geri Joneson on Thursday. After a short meeting between city attorneys and his lawyer, Andrea Hall, the citation for knowingly feeding wild animals was thrown out.

“It was a ridiculous case,” Hall said after court. “The City Council had changed the code in Loveland.”

An animal control officer with the Larimer Humane Society ticketed Sigman in May for violating the ordinance — apparently the first and only ticket written under the 2003 city regulation.
