Sen. Cory Gardner, surrounded by fellow Republican senators, speaks about health care during a news conference at the U.S. Capitol on Tuesday.

Re: Aug. 1 news story.

I find it ironic that Sen. Cory Gardner is now concerned about veterans having to wait for health care when just last month he voted to remove any access to health care coverage from millions of U.S. people, including hundreds of thousands of his own constituents in Colorado. These votes affected all of us, including veterans.

Is this new concern a pivot to divert attention from Gardner’s votes against health care? Our memories are not that short.

In watching Gardner and his Republican colleagues on the matter of health care for all of us, I am reminded of an old quote from comedian Lily Tomlin, “No matter how cynical you get, it is impossible to keep up.”
