Armed man robs Englewood bank; suspect arrested one block away

A suspect in an armed robbery of a bank was arrested Wednesday afternoon within minutes, and one block, of an Englewood holdup.

The robbery happened about 2 p.m. at Compass Bank, 4600 S. Broadway, according to police. The robber fled the bank northbound. Officers quickly caught a suspect in the 4500 block of South Broadway.

Money and a firearm were recovered by police. There were no reports of injuries.

Police described the suspect as a 52-year-old man. His name was not released.
