Last year, 150,000 visitors hiked up the 1.2-mile path to see Hanging Lake outside Glenwood Springs.Re: Aug. 25 editorial.
My family is from Glenwood Springs and I have been visiting that area for my whole life. Admittedly, I would love to visit Hanging Lake, but as an Audubon member and a conservationist, I would recommend strictly limiting access of the area to people.
The habitat at that location is of critical conservation need for certain avian species. In addition to supporting extensive limits on the number of visitors, I would also support buffer zones for all species breeding at Hanging Lake.
Thank you for keeping Colorado beautiful and natural.
