A felony fugitive out of Illinois attempted to evade multiple law enforcement agencies as he drove through Teller County Saturday ended the pursuit alive but in a ravine.

Authorities considered the man, who has been taken into custody and sustained non-life-threatening injuries, potentially armed and dangerous, according to the Teller County Sheriff’s Office. His name has not been released.

Department of Wildlife Officers started the pursuit in the morning before 10 a.m. As the chase went on, Teller County Sheriff’s Office, Cripple Creek Police Department, Park County Sheriff’s Office and the Department of Gaming joined in.

The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office and Colorado State Patrol set up a roadblock along Phantom Canyon Road at mile marker eight. The driver struck two sets of stop sticks and attempted to avoid the third when he lost control of his vehicle, crashing into a ravine, according to the Teller County Sheriff’s Office.
