Colorado Springs police arrested a 23-year-old accused burglar on felony assault and criminal mischief charges after the suspect lost a foot chase, kicked one officer in the head and smacked another in the face.

Daniel Wallace was also arrested for investigation of resisting arrest, according to a police report by the Stetson Hills Division of the Colorado Springs Police Department.

Police were called at 10:20 p.m. Tuesday to a home on the 3300 block of Queen Anne Way on a report of a burglary in progress.

When police arrived, Wallace allegedly took off running. A short foot chase ensued.

The two officers were treated at a local hospital for minor injuries and then released.
