
Parker police on Sunday identified the man who was shot and killed by law enforcement this weekend at an apartment complex after he allegedly exchanged gunfire with three officers.
Michael Wayne Marin, 35 of Montrose, was initially injured in the incident and taken to a hospital, where he died. No officers were injured in the exchange of gunfire.
Marin had been knocking on apartment doors at the Trailside Apartment Complex on Twenty Mile Road, when a neighbor called police to report his suspicious behavior.
When officers arrived just before 10 p.m., they discovered Marin’s vehicle had been reported stolen from Mesa County, according to a . Officers saw a mobile gun safe inside, police spokesman Josh Hans said.
Officers located the suspect a short time later and a gun battle ensued.
Hans said the suspect’s handgun was recovered on scene. The three officers will be placed on administrative leave while the incident is investigated by the 18th Judicial Critical Response Team.
