As a  at Denver International Airport next year, at least two displaced food venues have informed employees that they are losing their jobs.

Schlotzsky’s and Lefty’s in Terminal A will end operations in February. CA Concessions of Colorado, the company supplying workers for those restaurant jobs, notified the state’s Department of Labor and Employment on Monday that its service contract ends Feb. 9. At that time, it will start laying off 52 workers, which include 18 cooks, 12 cocktail servers and other workers.

Officials from CA Concessions could not be reached for comment.

But Heath Montgomery, a DIA spokesman, said that there are about 100 job openings in airport concessions.

“The people who are currently employed by concessions that are closing due to lease expirations are very valuable to other companies or even that same company in another location. In many cases, the concessionaire that is closing due to an expiring lease often operates other locations within the airport and absorbs those employees. In the cases where that is not happening other companies are very much looking for people who have airport badges and a demonstrated history of successfully working in the unique airport operating environment,” Montgomery said.

The future Denver Central Market, a food hall, is on the A Concourse. The concept, similar to what exists in Denver’s River North Arts District, will include Vero Italian pizza, SK Provisions and Izzio Artisan Bakery.
