A man held at gunpoint was able to convince his captor to drop him off at work before taking his car to rob a Walgreens.

Just before 5 a.m. on Saturday, a man was leaving his Lakewood apartment in the 2600 block of South Lewis Way near South Kipling Parkway and West Morrison Road, said Lakewood Police Department Det. Tim Marquez.

Another man in a dark hoodie approached him with a gun. The two got in the first man’s Nissan Versa and the suspect demanded the man drive him to Walgreens so he could rob the store, Marquez said.

The victim convinced his captor to drop him off at his workplace, which was near the Walgreens, and take his car. The victim went inside and called the police. In the meantime, the stolen vehicle was involved in a robbery at a Walgreens at South Kipling Parkway and West Bowles Avenue.

The Colorado State Patrol later pulled over the suspect and arrested him. The victim was not injured. Marquez did not know what was stolen from the Walgreens.
