Celestino Loya takes a photo of his wife, Maria Loya, at the Garden of the Gods Park in Colorado Springs on Dec. 15. The giant blue frame that had been drilled into the ground there has been removed in response to public uproar over the installation that Colorado Springs envisioned as a way to market the city and its iconic park.Re: “,” Dec. 18 news story.
Hooray for the 20,000 people in Colorado Springs who signed a petition saying “no” to the installation of a 12-foot-high “selfie” frame in the Garden of the Gods. In a place of such breath-taking natural beauty, why on Earth insert something unnatural and disruptive, only to focus attention on the person visiting the monument? Why not install the frame in front of a large shopping center so visitors could take selfies there? (Maybe they could inadvertently catch a glimpse of Pikes Peak in the background?)
