Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies Saturday afternoon found the body of a missing teen in Clear Creek Canyon.

The teen was later identified as 18-year-old Sawyer Dow. His family had reported him missing about 10:40 a.m. Saturday, said sheriff’s spokeswoman Jenny Fulton.

The last time family heard from him was about 6 p.m. Friday. Officials were told he had hiking equipment with him.

Deputies searched  near mile marker 265 on U.S. 6, west of tunnel 1, after his car was found in that area. Dow’s body was found between 1 p.m. and 1:30 p.m., Fulton said.
