A public memorial service for El Paso County Sheriff’s Deputy Micah Flick is tentatively set for 1 p.m. Saturday at New Life Church, 11025 Voyager Parkway, according to Senior Pastor Brady Boyd.

He expects “standing-room only” in the church’s auditorium, which seats 6,000.

“We are all busy, getting our building ready to receive guests from all over our country,” Boyd said Tuesday. “When a police officer has fallen, honor guards from all over the United States will be here, so we’re hosting a national event for people who want to show their support for Micah.”

Flick had been a member of New Life Church for 20 years, Boyd said, and regularly attended services with his wife, Rachael, and the couple’s 7-year-old twins. Rachael leads a 300-member Mother of Preschoolers group at the church as well.

Rachael and Micah Flick were married at New Life, Boyd said.
