Colorado State’s long-running nightmare is finally over with Larry Eustachy’s resignation, right?
Not quite.
Yes, there is some closure after a nearly four-week internal investigation ended with Eustachy out the door and a three-tiered $750,000 walkaway price thatap drastically below the more than $3 million owed to Eustachy had he been fired without cause.
But many questions still remain: Why was Eustachy allowed to coach without administrative supervision as required by his 2014 zero-tolerance abuse policy? What records will CSU make available concerning the results of its climate assessment? Will the university’s mishandling of the case result in personnel changes? How many players will the Rams retain next season? And, of course, who will be head coach?
Some answers will come more quickly than others, but you can bet CSU is ready to put the Eustachy era in the rear-view mirror as soon as possible.
