You’re losing 30 newsroom positions, out of 100? This is horrible. Seventy reporters and editors left to cover everything? What a loss. I remember when the Rocky Mountain News died. Now I worry about you.

I do not “cheer … the eventual demise of the mainstream media.” Who will keep ’em honest, if not you? The Washington Post’s motto is right: “Democracy dies in darkness.” I am counting on you for light, as long as you can keep your flame burning.

I just heard that The Denver Post is planning to lay off one-third of its newsroom staff. Perhaps choosing a left-wing political position and angering half of the potential market isn’t such a good marketing strategy.
