Phillip Lindsay is staying home.
The former Colorado Buffaloes running back and proud Colorado native agreed to a free-agent contract Saturday with the Broncos. He reacted the news on Twitter: “I want to thank the @Broncos and @JohnElway for believing in me and seeing what I can bring to the program! I look forward to repping my home state.”

Lindsay finished his CU career as the school’s career leader in all-purpose yardage (5,760). Despite that production, Lindsay did not receive an NFL scouting combine invitation — likely due to his size at 5-foot-8, 190 pounds. Lindsay will now work toward earning a roster spot in Denver after the Broncos selected a pair of running backs in the draft with Oregon’s Royce Freeman (No. 71, third round) and Arkansas’ David Williams (No. 226, seventh round).
Lindsay is not one to back down from a challenge, though.
When asked about his NFL prospects in November, Lindsay told The Denver Post: “At the end of the day, are you bad enough to do it? Thatap what I’ve been proving all my life.”
