Two illegal drugs suspects were arrested Thursday in Glenwood Springs, where authorities executed a search warrant at a motel looking for a burglary suspect.

Mario Martin Lopez, 45, and Adrian Garcia-De La Cruz, 26, were taken into custody at the Affordable Inn,
51823 U.S. 6, according to a news release.

The suspects were arrested by Rifle police and the Two Rivers Drug Enforcement Team. Rifle police, investigating a burglary, executed a search warrant and the multi-jurisdiction task force assisted.

Items from the burglary were recovered in a room, along with 43 grams of methamphetamine, several syringes loaded with the drug, additional drug paraphernalia and a handgun. Lopez was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a weapon by a previous offender.

As the search warrant was being executed, a man exited an adjoining room. Officers watched as the man walked toward a vehicle parked nearby and he dropped a bag into a flower pot. Officers recovered the bag and found about 4.8 grams of cocaine inside it. Garcia-De La Cruz was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving under revocation.

Police described both suspect as repeat offenders.
