U.S. Highway 160 at La Veta Pass is expected to reopen Saturday at 2 p.m. in both directions after the massive Spring Creek Fire prompted the road’s closure last week.

The road has been closed from Fort Garland to La Veta since June 27, according to a news release from the Colorado Department of Transportation.

Colorado Highway 69 will stay closed in both directions from five miles north of Walsenburg to the Huerfano and Custer County lines. To enter Colorado Highway 69, locals will need to provide proof of residence.

Colorado 12 also remains closed northbound and southbound from County Road 420 in La Veta to the summit of Cuchara Pass.

“Travelers are reminded that area highways may open and close at any time,” the CDOT news release read. “CDOT is urging the public to steer clear of all closure points.”

CDOT reminded commuters not to stop, park or stand outside of their vehicles along the U.S. Highway 160 shoulder from Fort Garland to La Veta or at any of the closure points.
