A 26-year-old driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI Friday night when he attempted to drive through an emergency vehicle crossover lane, which was blocked off by cones and where a Colorado State Patrol SUV was parked with its lights on.
The incident happened at about 7:40 p.m. on westbound I-70 at the mouth of the Mount Vernon Canyon, Trooper Gary Cutler said. The driver of a 2015 Subaru, Dorian Siegel, turned into the coned-off, emergency-vehicle-only lane and was stopped by the trooper.
The short, narrow emergency lane connects eastbound and westbound I-70. It is not for public use.

While sitting in a fully marked patrol car, with lights on, to prevent folks using the Emergency Vehicles Only crossover, this DUI driver pulled into the cones closure.
