A 60-year-old man faces up to 12 years behind bars after pleading guilty to felony assault and kidnapping for beating his nephew and locking him inside a metal storage container.
Wynn Ray Sichting was arrested Sept. 11, 2017, after police responded to a call in the 37000 block of Parsons Road in unincorporated Jefferson County. Police said the victim had gone to Sichting’s house, where he had recently been living, to collect some personal items.
The victim, who is 21, was standing inside a large metal storage container when Sichting began to yell at him, police said. Sichting then began punching and kicking him before pushing him into the container and locking the door.
For several hours, Sichting repeatedly opened and locked the door to the container and continued assaulting the victim, whose clothing was pulled from his body, authorities said. The victim eventually escaped by pushing through the door when it was opened.
Sichting, who pleaded guilty to second-degree assault, second-degree kidnapping and theft Aug. 31, will be sentenced Oct. 11 in Jefferson County District Court.
