The final weekend of football state championships are here with the three largest classifications playing their games Saturday. Classes 4A (11 a.m.) and 5A (2:30 p.m.) will play at Broncos Stadium at Mile High, while 3A’s showcase of defending champion Palmer Ridge against Pueblo East will kick off at 1 p.m. at CSU-Pueblo.

Here are some of the biggest names to watch this weekend…

5A

Alex Padilla, QB, Cherry Creek. Committed to Iowa and is a reliable passer, completing 70 percent of his attempts this season for 1,789 yards, 23 touchdowns and only one interception.

Luke McCaffrey, QB, Valor Christian. Committed to Nebraska but whether he’ll play quarterback for the Cornhuskers is still unknown. Has completed 54 percent of his passes this season for 2,033 yards, 20 touchdowns and four interceptions.

Alec Pell, LB, Cherry Creek. Committed to Colorado and has 73 tackles, six sacks and three passes deflected as a senior. Played both ways as a junior and was a reliable running back.

Josh Davis, RB, Valor Christian. Committed to Colorado and has 376 all-purpose yards and six touchdowns this season.

Marcus Miller, WR, Cherry Creek. Committed to Air Force. Slot-receiver type who has 511 receiving yards and six touchdowns this year after a 13-touchdown season as a junior.

Michael Lynn, OL, Cherry Creek. Committed to Nebraska and is ranked as the fifth-best player in Colorado, according to 247Sports.

Aiden Kneller, ATH, Cherry Creek. Committed to New Mexico. Don’t forget about the long snappers.

Dominick Pallotto, OG, Cherry Creek. Committed to Air Force

4A

Zach Weinmaster, ATH, Loveland. Committed to Nebraska as a preferred walk-on. Does a bit of everything for the Indians. Has 1,892 yards and 28 touchdowns rushing this season, along with 37 tackles, four interceptions and has three forced fumbles.

Chase Silva, QB, Silver Creek. Only a sophomore, he came in off the bench during the season opener when the senior starter was lost to a season-ending injury. Has thrown for 2,696 yards, 29 touchdowns and only six interceptions while completing 70 percent of his passes.

3A

Ty Evans, QB, Palmer Ridge. Committed to Colorado and is ranked fifth in state history for career passing yards (9,266) and third in touchdown passes (106). Has thrown for 2,478 yards and 33 touchdowns this season.

Kain Medrano, ATH, Pueblo East. Committed to UCLA and is ranked as the 15-best prospect in Colorado by 247Sports. On offense, he has caught 59 passes for 1,063 yards and 18 touchdowns this season. Defensively this fall, he has 90 tackles and seven interceptions — three of those came against Palmer Ridge’s Evans in their earlier meeting this year.

Aidan Cullen, DE, Palmer Ridge. Committed to Colorado State and weighs in at 6-foot-5, 245 pounds. Has sacked the quarterback 6.5 times this season and has 88 total tackles.
