A 42-year-old woman was struck by a train in the early morning hours Thursday in Fort Collins, police said.
The pedestrian, Hannah Mahady, of Fort Collins, was near the intersection of West Mountain Avenue and North Mason Street just before 1:30 a.m. when she was hit by the BNSF Railway train traveling northbound, according to a news release.
She was transported to the hospital with serious injuries, police said.
Fort Collins police and BNSF personnel are investigating the crash, but police said investigators do not believe speed was a factor in the accident.
The train blocked surrounding roads for about two hours while the incident was being investigated, police said.
This incident is the second train crash along the Front Range on Thursday. A train hit a pickup truck in Brighton just before 5:30 a.m., according to Brighton Fire Rescue. There were no injuries in the crash.
Police have asked anyone with information about the Fort Collins incident to call Officer Ken Koski at 970-416-2229.
