The driver of a speeding Ferrari lost control of the sports car in Arvada, crashing into a fence and several trees, police said. He died at the scene. The car was reported stolen.
The driver was identified Wednesday as 39-year-old Steven Andrews, according to a news release. A woman in the 2007 gray Ferrari, which was reported stolen from a local dealership, was taken to a hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening. She was not identified.
Early Wednesday police responded to reports of a speeding vehicle in the area of Ward Road and West 64th Avenue. Officers spotted the Ferrari speeding north in the 6700 block of Ward, and the car crashed two blocks later.
The heavily damaged car obliterated a wooden fence and came to a rest pitched at an angle with the front end facing the road. There were no other reports of injuries.
