The body of a 31-year-old missing dirt-bike rider was recovered Sunday morning by deputies and a search-and-rescue team in Mesa County.

The man was reported overdue late Saturday night and his body was found in an area off 29 Road north of Interstate 70, according to the sheriff’s office.

A helicopter was used as part of the search and the body was located in a remote area of desert. Excessive mud in the area, brought on by recent rains, resulted in first responders being flown into the recovery area.

The coroner’s office will determine the cause and manner of the man’s death. He has not been identified. The incident remains under investigation.
