Burger King’s meatless Impossible Whopper will go nationwide

St. Louis trial run has “surpassed the most bullish expectations”

Burger King’s meat-free Impossible Whopper is a success in the Show Me state of Missouri.

So now the rest of us will get to try it.

The 59-restaurant trial run in St. Louis, which was launched in early April, is “going exceedingly well, surpassing the most bullish expectations,” a representative for , the Redwood City-based start-up, said Monday.

By the end of 2019, Burger King will bring the Impossible Whopper to all 7,200 of its U.S. restaurants.

That will represent the largest meat-free fast-food experiment in the country. According to the , the closest in size is Carl’s Jr., which is selling its Beyond Famous Star, made with Beyond Beef, at more than 1,000 restaurants.
